Ok, we admit this sounds a bit crazy, but we're all ears when it comes to feeling full without overeating. Seems that may be the wrong orifice though. Sensa wants your sniffer. These are little crystals that you sprinkle on food, and the company behind them is throwing around a lot of claims that they claim to be the trick to weight loss success. But hold on... the skinny on these sprinkles don't really pass the smell test.

Sensa was developed by a neurologist who claims that the smell of food- which accounts for up to 90% of the taste of food can be used to trigger fullness. This full meter is measured in your brain and tells your body to stop eating. The smell of food triggers fullness? Then why does the smell of freshly baked cookies make us ready to eat an entire Costco sized bucket of em? Yes, in our experience quite the opposite is true. We smell something delectable and find it SO hard not to dive right in to dangerous portions of the potent smelling treat... whatever that may be!

The claim works like this- you sprinkle the crystals over your food and the aroma of the crystals make you think your are full even if you've only eaten a few bites. In a six month trial conducted by Sensa, more than 1,400 dieters lost an average of thirty pounds. THIRTY! Trouble is, 20/20 news program has reported that the Sensa claims are overstated, and that the company may have improperly claimed "peer review" supported their findings.

Admittedly, we have not tried Sensa ourselves, but we do have a friend that gave it a whirl and ultimately, shall we say, turned his nose up at the notion.

I tried it, for 3 months and lost 2 pounds.... big whoop! I don't think that Sensa made me lose anything at all, I was just lucky to have lost the 2 pounds on my own.

thanks for doing the research on this one. The industry really targets us that are desparate to lose the weight, we almost believe anything at times.
