Big Breakfast Debunked

Skinny Scoopers Lisa has LONG been tortured by the advice to get a hearty breakfast in your belly if you want to rev up your metabolism and drop some L-B's. Not a fan of morning munching, she's begrudgingly taken those first bites of the day despite not REALLY being hungry yet. Now she (and others like her) can breathe easy at the breakfast table. Turns out, eating early may NOT set you up for the day and stop you from eating more.

According to new research out of Germany, a big breakfast does NOTHING to help with weight loss. Lead researcher, Professor Volker Schusdziarra says they observed the eating habits of 280 obese subjects and 100 normal weight subjects. They recorded what they ate and drank for 10 consecutive days. In the end, people with a higher number of breakfast calories carried the higher count throughout the day. In other words...  they ended up with more calories consumed than on days when they had only a small breakfast with a low calorie intake.

Those who ate a "big" breakfast, those with an average of 400 calories more than a small breakfast -- ended up with a net gain of 400 calories over the day.

"The results of the study showed that people ate the same at lunch and dinner, regardless of what they had for breakfast," Schusdziarra said. As for those claims that a breakfast can kick-start your metabolism? He says it's possible that's all been bunk.
